Dear Mr. DeLong,
Thank you for a wonderful sports management class this past term as I truly enjoyed it. The discussions and event play assignments were interesting and informative. Even though the group project started out rough with our first group manager going MIA, my favorite part of the course was taking over and managing the group project. Creating the South Beach 10K Running Event taught me several lessons on how much planning and organizing goes into hosting a 10K event. It was a lot of work but also a great learning experience that I plan to take with me in running future events.
I am applying for a job at USA Triathlon for a position as a USA Triathlon National Event Manager. I was wondering if you could write a letter of recommendation for me. Please include in the letter how I took charge of the class project and manage the team to creating a successful final 10K event. Please add your thoughts of my managing abilities and knowledge in the field of sport management as well as my performance in your class. The letter needs to be addressed to Patricia Walters who is the director of the USA Triathlon National Events. The address to the USA Triathlon National Events department is USAT National Events, 5825 Delmonico Drive, Suite 200, Colorado Springs, CO 80919. Please mail or e-mail me the letter at RLS@VIPTriTraining.com. If you agree to do this, then I will need to receive the letter of recognition by Monday, March 1st, 2021.
My long history of racing for the past 30 years, first as a junior elite triathlete, then as a professional triathlete and now as an age group elite triathlete has provided me with ample experiences on what makes a great and successful event. My history of running and designing triathlons, running and cycling events has helped to prepare me for a job such as this. Furthermore, successfully running my triathlon coaching business for the past 5 years has shown me how much I truly love helping to inspire, coach and lead others to conquer their goals. Managing a team of professionals to help put on safe, fun and successful USAT National Events is a dream job of mine. I believe I can lead this team to creating amazing events for both the athletes and spectators to enjoy. I greatly appreciate your consideration and time in this matter and I look forward to hearing back from you soon.
Sincerely,
Robin L. Sandos

II. The following memo is announcing a 10 day off for holiday diversity. Through careful language I was able to describe the "Employee Holiday Off Plan" and the action needed to implement the plan.
November 5th, 2020

To: Employees of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
From: Robin L. Sandos RLS
Vice President of Human Resources
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
Subject: Employee Holidays Off Plan
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital has listened to the feedback from you, our employees, requesting holidays off from work that are not covered in the company calendar. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital has developed a plan to make it fair for all employees to take off holidays of their choice.
10 Days Off for Holidays
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is happy to announce that all employees will be given 10 holidays off of their picking and/or choice per year. These 10 holidays of choice may include any religious, ethnic, or cultural holidays and they do not affect your vacation time, personal days off, and/or sick days.
Action Needed to Implement the Change
Each employee is required to tell his/her supervisors which days they plan to take off. All employees will be asked in December of 2020 which holidays they want to take off in the following year. You will be able to change your minds during the year as long as you have not taken off the full 10 holidays.
As Vice President of Human Resources, I want to personally thank you for your hard work and dedication to making St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital the great success it is today. You are a huge part in helping build and grow the hospital to where it is today. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital cannot thrive and succeed without you. The hospital understands the importance of family and spending time with loved ones and hopes these 10 holidays off of your choice will help make your work more enjoyable. Furthermore, the hospital hopes this gives you the time you wish to spend with your loved ones when you so choose. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital looks forward to many more successful years of working and growing hospital’s success with you.
